Instagram Wellness vs. RealLife Wellness

You ever wonder why you do not see the actual me on this site… Well, let’s talk about the version of wellness you see on Instagram — and the one you actually live. Because if Instagram wellness were real life, we’d all wake up at 5 a.m., drink glowing green juice in silence, journal five pages of gratitude, and never once feel annoyed by emails, traffic, or people who chew too loudly.
Meanwhile, real life wellness is drinking cold coffee you forgot about, stretching because your back cracked weird, and calling that “selfcare.” Let’s be honest about both.

Instagram Wellness Looks Like This

You know the posts.
Perfectly arranged smoothie bowls with exactly seven blueberries
Matching workout sets in neutral colors
Morning routines that somehow include meditation, skincare, a workout, and world peace — all before sunrise
Quotes about “choosing peace” posted by someone who absolutely lost their mind five minutes earlier
Everyone looks:
-Calm
-Energized
-Unbothered
-Emotionally healed
-No sweat stains.
-No messy feelings.
-No visible overwhelm.

RealLife Wellness Looks More Like This

Reallife wellness is a little less polished and a lot more honest.
Choosing a 10minute walk because 60 minutes feels like too much
Eating a frozen meal and still feeling proud you fed yourself
Canceling plans because you need rest — not because you’re “lazy”
Doing your best, not your “highlight reel” best
It’s managing stress instead of pretending you don’t have any.
It’s taking breaks before burnout — not after.
And sometimes, it’s doing nothing without explaining yourself.
No aesthetic lighting required.

Wellness Is Not a Performance

Instagram can make wellness feel like something you’re supposed to perform:
Eat this way
Move your body like this
Look calm while doing it
And don’t forget to smile
But real wellness doesn’t need:
Filters
Matching sets
Or an audience
It’s personal.
It’s flexible.
And most importantly — it adapts when life gets messy.
Because life will get messy.

You’re Not Doing It Wrong If It Doesn’t Look Pretty

If your version of wellness includes:
Boundaries instead of green juice
Therapy instead of smoothie bowls
Sleep instead of sunrise workouts
Balance instead of perfection
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are not “less disciplined.”
You’re just living in reality — not a curated square.

The Truth No One Posts Enough

The healthiest people aren’t the ones doing everything perfectly.
They’re the ones who:
Adjust when things feel off
Don’t punish themselves for being human
Understand that wellness changes season to season
Some days, wellness is a workout.
Some days, wellness is takeout and rest.
Both can coexist.

A Reminder You Probably Need

You don’t need to:
Look calm to be balanced
Eat perfectly to be healthy
Or live like an influencer to take care of yourself
If your wellness fits your life — your schedule, your stress level, your personality — you’re doing it right.
Even if it doesn’t photograph well.
Especially if it doesn’t photograph well (and that is why you never see me 😉 )
