Shell Yeah! Pistachios Are Nuts About Your Health

This week, I want to take a look at an addictive snack that is also very good for you: Pistachios!  There are so many kinds and varieties out there now that why can’t we take a look at it.

They are full in nutrients –

A 1-ounce (28g) serving contains:
– 159 calories
– 6g protein
– 3g fiber
– High levels of vitamin B6, potassium, copper, and thiamine

Pistachios are rich in antioxidants like lutein, zeaxanthin, polyphenols, and tocopherols, which help protect against cell damage, cancer, and heart disease. Regular consumption may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and blood pressure and improve blood vessel flexibility due to their high content of healthy fats and L-arginine.

Pistachios have a low glycemic index and may help stabilize blood glucose levels, making them a good snack for people with diabetes. They act as prebiotics, feeding beneficial gut bacteria and improving digestive health. And despite being energy-dense, pistachios are low in calories compared to other nuts and high in protein and fiber, which promote satiety and may aid in weight loss.

Lutein and zeaxanthin in pistachios help protect against age-related macular degeneration and blue light damage, so they are great for eye health! Their vitamin E and antioxidant content may support skin health and promote hair growth.

Overall, pistachios are addictive, but wonderful in nutrients.
