It’s another fun-filled nutritional Wellness Wednesday… However, with Halloween coming up this week, let’s have a little look at Fact vs. Fiction on CHOCOLATE
FACTS
Chocolate contains antioxidants: Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, which can help reduce inflammation and improve heart health.
Dark chocolate may improve brain function: Studies suggest it can enhance cognitive function due to increased blood flow to the brain.

Chocolate can boost mood: It stimulates the release of endorphins and serotonin, which are natural mood lifters.
Moderate consumption may benefit heart health: Some research links moderate dark chocolate intake to lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol levels.
Cocoa has been used medicinally for centuries: Ancient civilizations like the Aztecs used cocoa for its perceived health benefits.
FICTION
Chocolate causes acne: No strong scientific evidence supports this. Acne is more related to hormones and hygiene.

White chocolate is real chocolate: Technically, it’s not. It contains cocoa butter, but lacks cocoa solids, which define true chocolate.
Chocolate is highly addictive: While it can be craved, it doesn’t meet the criteria for addiction like drugs or alcohol.
Chocolate has lots of caffeine: It contains some caffeine, but much less than coffee or tea. A typical dark chocolate bar has about 20–30 mg.
Chocolate is bad for you: Overconsumption can be unhealthy, but in moderation—especially dark chocolate, it can be part of a balanced diet.
So be sure to enjoy your Halloween and don’t be afraid to ingest a little chocolate. It’s okay to “cheat” on your diet and especially with something like dark chocolate, since it has health benefits. Be safe!
