Running Late? Nah, Just Running Great! – Why This Sport is the Ultimate Life Upgrade

New week, new topic of course! Not going to lie, I was going through my archives, and realized I NEVER did this topic, which is shocking! Since we are all about a healthy lifestyle here and I am a running coach. Let’s talk about this week, the benefits of well, RUNNING.

Running is a very physical sport, so we are going to start with the physical health benefits –Running improves cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure, resting heart rate, and risk of heart disease. It also supports weight management as it burns calories efficiently and helps reduce body fat. Running strengthens muscles and bones by increasing bone density and builds lower body strength. Running makes you healthy by boosting your immune system, reducing the risk of colds and infections. Not only does it improve immune health, but it also improves joint health done properly running can strengthen knees and backs.

Wow, running does a lot for your physical health, but do you know it works for your mental health as well (and coming from personal experience, it definitely does)? Running reduces stress and anxiety by releasing endorphins and lowers cortisol levels. This also leads to improving mood, enhancing cognitive function, fighting depression and a confidence builder!

But these are only some of the health benefits of running, there are some more like improving sleep quality, disease prevention, and honestly it helps with the social life especially if you talk to others during races or join a run club etc. Running is so beneficial if done right, and done the way you want too, whether you want to run casually (no races), do a race every weekend, or pick and choose when to run a race. There is something for everyone.
