This week I want to take a look at the benefits of milk (and YES! It’s another miniseries). This topic will also lead us right back to more spice articles, later this year and as we all know I LOVE me some spicy chili peppers.
Let’s start, Milk is packed with essential vitamins and minerals including calcium, vitamin D, B12, potassium, and phosphorus. It also contains high-quality protein and healthy fats; therefore, it is rich in nutrients
Thanks to its high calcium and vitamin D content, milk helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Milk is a complete protein source, containing all nine essential amino acids. It supports muscle repair and growth, especially when consumed after exercise. Also, with B vitamins and antioxidants in milk help with cognitive function and may reduce the risk of cognitive decline. So, it promotes bone, brain and muscle health.
The protein and fat in milk can help increase satiety, potentially aiding in weight control when included in a balanced diet. Milk is about 87% water and contains electrolytes, making it a good post-workout hydration option. Wow, so it aids in weight management and post workout recovery.
Overall, Milk is essential to the diet, however if someone is lactose, there are alternatives to getting the nutrients from milk. But that is a topic for a later time 😊
