My favorite subject coming back around, let’s talk about SPICE! For those who haven’t heard, there is a new Spiciest Pepper in the world…. Pepper X, so let’s take a look at this exciting, new, yet dangerous pepper.
As of October 9th, the Guinness Book of World records has named this new pepper the spiciest pepper in the world, beating out its predecessor Carolina Reaper. What you may not know is, the crazy genius that came up with the Carolina Reaper, also came up with Pepper X (that is 3 times hotter than the Reaper), so he beat out his own record!

Per the creator, Pepper X is about 2.693 million Scoville Heat Units and has a sweet and floral aroma that opens up to intense flavor. So, how does it compare to others or let me give you a common reference point, the common jalapeño in comparison the Pepper X is up to 1,077 times hotter than the mildest jalapeño, which is about 336 times hotter.

However, you aren’t going to be able to run out and buy it anytime soon OR the seeds for it OR even cook with it, bummer for spice enthusiasts like me. Hopefully though give it some time, the Carolina Reaper only started selling seeds in the last few years. Most super-hot chili you can’t find in the grocery store, just areas like the farmer’s market. And as for cooking it, it has been recommended to not go into the kitchen without kitchen gloves, kitchen goggles, and even a gas mask.
Although if you still want to taste this pepper, definitely go out and look for some sauces because there are hot sauces on the market that do contain this pepper.

Are you going to dare to try Pepper X?
