Mini-Series:   Running 101

Hi WhatNot!

So now that my book analysis is completed,  let’s stop bullsh*tting ourselves,  time to get back what we know.  This week is the first week of my second mini-series,  my overall goal is to get you more informed and ready for things like fall racing.  At the end of the series,  I will post a sample training plan for those who are interested,  and if you want a more individualized one, please feel free to reach out and discuss.

INTRODUCTION

Running by definition is the sport of racing on foot (Oxford University Press, 2000, p. xx).  Running predates history as a form of survival as people needed to get food quickly (“Running | iSport.com,” n.d.).

Throughout time, running naturally progressed into a sport that is becoming more and more popular throughout the years. With estimates from around 300,000 participants in half marathons in 1990 to almost 2 million participants by 2015, road running is a growing sport (“2015 Running USA Annual Half Marathon Report | Running USA,” n.d.). With people wanting to get faster and faster when they are racing.

Therefore, this training plan has been produced for the seasoned runner to obtain a personal record at their next half marathon. This plan will examine the runners form, speed workouts, strength training, rest days, and tapering. With all of these items put in a comprehensive 8-9 week training plan; which has a general progression in speed and distance. This plan will also include a weekly schedule.
